In Stonehaven down by the coast at the north end there used to be a Hotel that did excellent several course dinners. I think the structure was constructed of timber. My son and I stayed overnight in 1979. I went through about 10 years ago but could not find it.

I was born in Ellon in 1942. My grandparents lived in what was then known as West Lodge, Ellon Castle, my grandfather was gamekeeper for Sir Edward and Lady Reid. Looking at the photographs bring back many happy memories. I now live in Texas USA and Ellon is always on my list of places to visit.
Congratulations on a great website.

Inverurie, Aberdeenshire

The Scottish town of Inverurie sits in the Don Valley at the centre of Aberdeenshire. Inverurie straddles the River Don and the River Ury, and is only 4 miles (6.4 km) from the imposing and famous mountain of Bennachie. Inverurie town centre is slightly triangular and is dominated by the grand Inverurie "Town Hall" built in the late 1800s. In the middle of Inverurie town square is the Inverurie War Memorial capped by a lone Gordon Highlander looking out over the town. The part of the town south of the River Don is actually called Port Elphinstone it is however common to hear the title "Inverurie" used to refer to both Inverurie and Port Elphinstone as a single town.  Read more »
